Invention from Bosch providing reliable ignition in combustion engines since 1902

On 7th January 1902 Bosch was granted the patent for a high-voltage magneto and spark plug combination. At this time the invention started to be used for the reliable ignition of the gasoline/air mixture in combustion engines. In this way, spark plugs from Bosch played their part in the early success of the automobile.

For more than 111 years, Bosch spark plugs have made a significant contribution to the development of more powerful, efficient and environmentally friendly engines. Nowadays, leading vehicle manufacturers rely on spark plugs from Bosch as original equipment. Bosch spark plugs are also used in marine engines, jet skis, gardening and forestry equipment, large gas engines, water pumps and emergency power generators.
